Cheri received her bachelor's in history from Boston University and her master's in social work from the University of Connecticut. Before becoming a counselor, Cheri worked at a childcare center in Boston with children from 6 weeks to 12 years old. She then was a stay at home mom with her two daughters. Cheri decided to go back to school to pursue a degree in social work to utilize her love of helping people and social justice. Cheri's first year internship was in the Bloomfield Public School system working with third and fourth graders. She taught social emotional learning skills in the classroom, conducted group therapy and social skill sessions, and supported IEP/504 assessments and implementations. In her second year placement, Cheri interned at Pinnacle Behavioral Health, facilitating IOP groups for middle and high school students. Through this experience, she deepened her knowledge in adolescent mental health and became passionate about DBT and group based interventions. Cheri is dedicated to creating a supportive, skills-based environment where adolescents and young adults can build emotional insight, strengthen relationships, and thrive. Her approach is grounded in empathy, collaboration with families and schools, and evidence-based practices that promote resilience and personal growth.
